1. Hot Metal Detector LTD / HMD Series
- The LTD/HMD series is the new generation of hot metal detectors, combining modern appearance and performance with full backward compatibility.
- LTD1 and T-LTD are standard HMD1 type, suitable for KDH1, RJJ1 and similar models. LTD6 is a standard HMD6 type with a flat mouth.
2. Hot Metal Detector HGE / HMD Series
- The HGE series is the classic hot metal detector range, now fully upgraded with LTD technology — lighter and smaller, with the performance of the new models.
- HGE98/65 (or HGE98/65 flat mouth) is a standard HMD4 type, suitable for RJJ4 and similar models. HGE98 works on DC-24V; HGE65 works on AC-220V. HGE95 is a standard HMD8 type with a flat mouth, suitable for KDH6/7 models.

In a rolling line, the bar cooling bed is a critical part of the whole production line, and the hot metal detector (also called a hot probe or infrared detector) is the key inspection station of the bar cooling bed. A wide temperature detection range and stable performance of the hot metal detector are fundamental guarantees for rolling output and yield.
Our new generation of bar cooling bed hot metal detectors inherits traditional industrial-grade components and further upgrades the core parts, using military-grade components for greater stability and full tolerance of the high-temperature environment in steel mills. Installation dimensions and wiring numbers follow the traditional detector, making replacement straightforward. The unit uses imported components; the detection head uses a multi-angle microscope lens and a large-diameter high-temperature process glass for dust protection, widening the detection range. Every detector features a colour-changing power indicator, a high-temperature warning lamp, a test button and a reliable aviation-plug cable, giving excellent on-site stability and easy operation and maintenance.

How a Hot Metal Detector Works
Every object with a temperature emits infrared radiation — the human body does, which is why infrared is used for night-time detection in the military. Infrared is invisible to the human eye. The hotter the object, the more infrared it emits; the cooler, the less. At high temperatures visible red light is emitted as well, which is why hot steel bars appear to glow.
A hot metal detector (HMD) works on the same principle: the probe receives the signal from the hot bar, the optical section focuses it onto the optical sensor element, and a precise electronic circuit processes it to output two pairs of switch outputs — relay contact outputs and contactless level outputs — monitoring one station of the cooling bed.
